Chelsea considering two major transfers to solve Mauricio Pochettino's biggest dilemma

Chelsea transfer news: Inter Milan's Andre Onana is one of the big names linked with a move to Stamford Bridge but there could be a move for another Serie A shot-stopper

Todd Boehly will embark on his third transfer window of his reign at Chelsea this summer. Despite spending over £600 million, 2022/23 has been a season to forget for the football club.

The multiple reinforcements made over the past 12 months have failed to make an impact many would have hoped for. Chelsea will finish the current campaign outside the Premier League top 10, instantly making the upcoming transfer window a vital one.

Yet, possibly one of the most pressing positions that is in desperate need of reinforcement is goalkeeper. Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy have both endured spells as number one in SW6 during their time in England, but neither have solidified themselves as top tier.

It's expected that a new shot-stopper will be signed before next season, with Inter Milan's Andre Onana the latest to be linked alongside Brentford's David Raya and Valencia's Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Depending on how Inter's final with Manchester City plays out, Onana remains a viable option for Boehly. La Gazzetta dello Sport have recently claimed the two clubs remain in regular talks over the deal. However, any successful transfer strategy proceeds with alternatives.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Juventus' Wojciech Szczesny is a player the recruitment team at Stamford Bridge are monitoring. The report states the Poland international is an alternative to Onana, with his future in Turin said to be in doubt.

Juventus' recent 10-point deduction means the Old Lady's hopes of playing in the Champions League are minimal. Whilst Chelsea are unable to provide a pathway to the competition next season, his credentials over his career make him a viable option.

Reports earlier in the year have claimed Juventus may look to offload the former Arsenal goalkeeper, with his wages making him one of the highest earners.

His contract at the Juventus Stadium is due to expire next summer, meaning he may be available at a considerable price tag this year.
