Eriksen’s recovery
The European Championships provided moments of elation for millions of people around Europe. Goals, great games and spectacles were rife throughout the competition.
However, one moment in the game between Denmark and Finland will forever be remembered for some very different emotions that were experienced.
Christian Eriksen collapsed suffering a cardiac arrest and required medical attention to save his life. He left the field conscious and recovered to a stable condition in a nearby hospital in Copenhagen.
He posted on his Instagram shortly after to let fans know that he was okay and recovering.
Yet the thoughts has always lingered, theorising whether or not Eriksen would be able to return to the sport he has excelled at for so long.
It is a subject which has seen others unable to do so.
Eriksen set for tests to determine future
Now the questions will be whether the Danish talisman can ever return to playing football.
Famously Fabrice Muamba retired after suffering a cardiac arrest against Spurs for Bolton.
Eriksen has been fitted with a defibrillator or ICD, and he needs to show he can perform without it for doctors to be assured of his long-term health.
He will undergo many tests with Inter Milan before a decision is made, it certainly isn’t expected to be a rushed process.
