Jair Marrufo will be the man in the middle for the Club World Cup final as Real Madrid take on Al Ain and he has some history with Los Blancos.
He was in charge of the summer Clasico held in Miami in 2017, during which he clashed with Barcelona player Ivan Rakitic.
Rakitic claimed after the match that the MLS referee insulted him.
"Those who know me know that it's hard to get me wound up, but this referee managed to," the Croatian stated.
"He insulted me quite strongly three times.
"I am normally very respectful with them, but when they're not that way with me then I don't like it."
Marrufo was in charge of Al Ain's quarter-final win over Esperance in this competition.
