The former Spain striker announced he would not continue at New York City and is now bound for Japan, according to Deportes Cuatro.

David Villa is set to join Andres Iniesta at Vissel Kobe in Japan. According to Deportes Cuatro, Villa is heading to play in Japan's J League after he announced a few days ago that he has decided to leave New York City, where has played since 2014.
Aside from playing together for Spain, Villa shared a dressing room with Iniesta at Barcelona for three years before joining Atlético Madrid in 2013. After one season at Atlético, in which he won LaLiga and played in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, Villa joined New York City in the summer of 2014.
Spain’s highest goal scorer of all time, Villa will become the third former Spanish international to currently play in the J-League, joining Iniesta and Fernando Torres, who plays with Sagan Tosu.
"The time has come to leave New York City. I feel it is now, my contract is over, I understand that the club is interested in keeping me on, but this was my first choice” said Villa in a video message posted on YouTube. "The explanation is complicated, I feel that a stage has ended and I have to look for new challenges.”
