Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries admits he grew up a fan of Douglas Maicon.
Dumfries says he looked up to the former Inter Milan fullback as a junior.
He said in tonight's Champions League match programme: "I have always been very determined in wanting to become a footballer, I worked a lot and I am proud to have reached the level I am at now.
"Every time I go on the pitch it is special, especially in front of the Nerazzurri fans: playing football is what I love and it gives me unique sensations. This shirt means a lot, in the city as around the world, seeing so many fans wearing it is incredible, which is why when I get ready to go on the pitch I feel honoured to wear it.
"Before the matches I am calm and concentrated, with the experience it allows you to be increasingly focused on the work to be done to improve."
"A Nerazzurri idol? I would say Maicon, in his role he was one of the strongest in history."
