The veteran striker, now 39, has joined Fiorentina on a free transfer.
At his presentation today, Dzeko said: "Age doesn't matter. It means I'm not ready to give up yet. Behind it all is the work that a 39-year-old has to do, even more than others. I'm doing it, I still feel good. Now we're working hard because this will give us satisfaction later.
"Ambition must always be there; it's the foundation for achieving great results. Nothing comes naturally; you have to sweat and work hard. Fiorentina have lost three finals in recent years, so you can see that the team and the club are there, and at Viola Park we have everything we need to give our all."
On the role he sees himself playing, Dzeko also said: "I see myself as either a centre or centre striker, further forward or further back. Great players can play together. On the pitch, you always need quality, but you also need to think about the team.
"With a lot of attacking players, you certainly score more goals, but we all need to think about the defensive phase as well."
