Fresh plans for a European Super League will be announced on Wednesday, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus condemned for their part in the project, with Javier Tebas claiming they “lie more than Vladimir Putin”.

Juventus supremo Andrea Agnelli has been a driving force behind Super League plans, which were initially announced last April but quickly canned amidst widespread supporter protests from around Europe.

Madrid, Barca and Juve were the three teams never to withdraw their support of the Super League idea and, amid supposed financial hardships, are ready to push again to make the competition a reality.

Tebas, who was speaking at the ‘Financial Times’ forum, has criticised these teams.

“Every time I hear about these three Super League clubs, they do nothing but lie. The Super League lies more than Putin! We’d have to be idiots to believe that they say,” Tebas fumed.

“They are three castaways who say that their project will not affect the rest of the teams, but I feel humiliated. They are going to do a lot of damage to football.

“FlorentIno Perez said it on a big television program like El Chiringuito: ‘Don't worry, we will give you millions.’ Three clubs want to rule over the rest and you have to prevent it from happening.”

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin was also scathing of the plans.

“First they launched nonsense idea in middle of pandemic. Now we are hearing they are launching another in a war. They must live in a parallel world,” he said.
