Former Genoa and Roma defender Sebino Nela is backing Daniele de Rossi's appointment as new coach of the Grifone.

"He has an iron character and is a boy of superior intelligence. We'll need to give him time to work, but he has the qualities to achieve great things," Nela told Il Secolo XIX.
"They seem like a good team to me, and the league table doesn't seem accurate. Last year, Vieira did a good job, but this year something didn't quite work.
"Of course, they also need a bit of luck and a few fewer refereeing errors. That said, I'm happy with De Rossi's arrival. He has the qualities to do well, he has passion and character."
Meanwhile, on the skeptism of some Genoa fans, Nela insists: "The fans are sacred to me, but they have to think about being fans.
"The decisions regarding who to entrust to the bench are up to the managers, and it's up to them to decide whether or not a coach is suitable for that team, its needs, the type of championship it faces, and the players available. If I may give my opinion, for me, De Rossi is what Genoa needs at this moment to climb the table."
