Former Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli has taken a swipe at Serie A standards.
Balotelli is weighing up his playing options after being released by Sion.
He told Controcalcio: "Last year I watched a couple of Serie A matches and not out of malice but I compared them to the matches that we did in Turkey. The level is almost higher in Turkey today than Serie A.
"Serie A is not a poor championship, but the level of the other championships is rising."
On the emergence of Saudi Arabia in the football market, he added: "I rejected a Chinese offer that was much higher than the Arab figures. I don't regret having rejected it, I preferred to play football and stay in Marseille. I don't know what I'll do in the future, but how can you say that someone goes to Arabia not for money? If they offered little money the players wouldn't go there."
