Roma boss Jose Mourinho has revealed what he said to fourth official Marco Serra during last month's defeat to Cremonese.
Mourinho was sent to the stands by referee Marco Piccinini after an altercation with Serra. It is the third such time the Portuguese has been dismissed from his technical area this season.
Detailing what exactly he said to Serra, Mourinho admitted to the Court of Appeals that he had asked for an explanation on a foul on Marash Kumbulla that hadn't been given.
'Without even turning around, provocatively giving me his back and with obvious superiority, Serra told me: "Go home, go home". I said "what?" and he said "everyone is taking the p**s". Then he added "always the same show, go home".'
Following the final whistle, which marked Cremonese's first win of the season, Mourinho paid a visit to the referee's changing room. He delivered some more choice words for the fourth official in particular in that instance.
'I knocked, I was allowed in, the door was left open,' he told the court. 'I come here because I want you (Serra) to apologise to me.'
Serra refused, adding: 'I did not disrespect you, I never said anything against you.'
Mourinho then admitted to potentially risking provocation in regards to the official, saying he called him a 'liar' and jokingly referenced his background in being from Turin.
'I then told him he was a liar and at the end I added an ironic joke: "You are from Turin".'
'At that moment,' Mourinho added, 'Serra came back aggressively, (saying), "I knew you were coming for that reason". There then I ended the conversation by saying "you are a liar".'
A statement from Serie A after the game outlined what Mourinho had done wrong, saying he would be banned. It read: 'Having contested a refereeing decision in a forceful and provocative manner in the second minute of the second half and repeating this behaviour at the time of sending off.
'Furthermore, for entering the referees' dressing room and addressing the fourth official with offensive expressions and inferences at the end of the match.'
It was announced that Mourinho would be banned for two games, meaning he would be absent from the touchline for Roma's games with Sassuolo and Lazio.
