Rangers have been urged to make a swoop for Gareth Bale by Scottish pundit Ally McCoist, who factiously quipped that the 'best golf courses' are Scotland.
The Welsh international, who helped his country win World Cup qualification for the first time in 64 years last Sunday, is set to become a free agent at the end of June after a nine-year spell at Real Madrid.
Bale quashed any rumours of retirement ahead of Wales' famous 1-0 victory against Ukraine, stating it was 'very unlikely' he would not join another club.
Former clubs Tottenham and Southampton are keenly monitoring the 32-year-old whilst Celtic and hometown Cardiff are also tipped to be interested.
But McCoist has fervently pitched the case for his old side Rangers, arguing that fans there would 'absolutely love him'.
The 59-year-old also jested that Scotland is home to some of the best golf course around, which would undoubtedly suit Bale and his love for the sport.
'If I was Rangers, I'd go offer him something as well,' McCoist said on talkSPORT.
'Listen, he's at a stage in his life he wants to enjoy himself. We all know he's a big golf fan, we've got the best golf courses.
'I'd bring him up here and say: "Look, have a year up here". The fans will love him, absolutely love him.'
McCoist is also aware why a lot of Rangers fans would be hesitant of a Bale swoop after his compatriot Aaron Ramsey experienced a tricky loan spell at the Ibrox last season.
The 31-year-old Welshman's injury-ridden season culminated in him missing the all-important penalty for Rangers in the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
McCoist said: 'I know the argument would be there was disappointment with Aaron Ramsey, he wasn't 100 per cent fit, I get that.
'He's at the stage now, would America be an option? I don't know him so I can't speak for him but it looks like he's a period where he wants to enjoy the last two or three years of his playing career.
'And that's what I want it to be. I don't want him to fizzle out as a bit-part player coming on for half an hour.
'He didn't look anything as sharp as he's been (against Ukraine) but he's not going to be.
'At the same time, come on guys, he's still got a lot to offer.'
Having marshalled Wales to Qatar - with his deflected free-kick providing the only goal against Ukraine - there is every chance Bale chooses a move to Cardiff instead and continues his legacy as a Wales legend.
Only Chris Gunter (108) sits above Bale (103) at the top of Wales' all-time appearance list, with the winger scoring 38 goals since his debut in 2006.
