Gian Piero Gasperini hailed Atalanta for their comeback to conquer Parma 3-1. “This is a team of leaders that plays good football.”
The Orobici had gone behind to an early Gervinho counter-attack, but turned it around with Mario Pasalic and a Duvan Zapata brace.
“I am very satisfied, both with the result and the performance,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“Parma are undoubtedly a dangerous team when running into space, so it could’ve become a very complicated situation with us chasing the game. Overall, we did very well, controlled the match and created many scoring opportunities.
“This victory will really boost our self-esteem. Papu Gomez was marvellous both as a forward and a midfielder, even if he did manage to miss the goal… We scored our 60th goal of the season, the same as Juventus, so that is satisfying.
“The great thing about Atalanta is that this is a team of leaders. These lads never just do the bare minimum. If they are here, it’s because they have been selected for Atalanta. There are no timid figures who hold back, no water-carriers who come on and just do the basics to pick up a salary.
“This is a team that plays good football and technique makes the difference, taking nothing away from tactics or fitness levels. We also have very passionate fans who follow us in big numbers on away games, which is an extra adrenaline boost.”
