Genoa Coach: Piatek is the most complete striker

Genoa Coach Cesare Prandelli believes imminent Milan signing Krzysztof Piatek is “the most complete striker I’ve ever worked with.”

A deal is practically done for him to reach San Siro at a cost of €35m plus bonuses and the inclusion of midfielder Alen Halilovic.

“Piatek is a type of player I’ve not really had in my squads before. He has all the important characteristics needed and is the most complete striker I’ve ever worked with,” Prandelli told Spanish newspaper Marca.

“I’ve trained some very capable forwards who can score goals, but he is complete. He has strength, good physicality, stamina, intuition and a way of reading the game. He can play as a centre-forward, but also a support striker.

“I think Piatek is one of the best strikers in Europe. I can certainly see him playing for Real Madrid, Barcelona or Milan.”

Poland international Piatek is currently second in the Capocannoniere charts behind Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus.

“Ronaldo brought a lot of enthusiasm to Serie A, but his most important contribution has been ensuring the great champions believe Serie A is important again. Italian football is now marketable and can be sold all over the world.”

Prandelli is Genoa’s third Coach of the season after Davide Ballardini and Ivan Juric were fired, yet the second half of the season only begins this week.

“I chose Genoa because President Enrico Preziosi has a strong character and convinced me. He has very interesting ideas for the future and I want to help Genoa improve.

“The main objective right now is to secure Serie A safety. We’ll plan out the future at the end of the season.”
