Faouzi Ghoulam has assured Napoli fans that his injury isn't serious and just a muscular problem.

Ghoulam has missed Napoli's last two games with the setback, but he took to Algerian newspaper Le Buteur to rubbish the claim that Carlo Ancelotti was no longer counting on him.

"I have a muscle injury, but it is nothing to get worried about. I want to return to the national side, but first I must find consistency with Napoli."

The left-back was left out of the squad for Algeria's successful Africa Cup of Nations win last summer, but claims it was his decision to stay at home.

"It was difficult, but I had to work and regain strength in my muscles. In short, I wasn't ready. I have some regrets, but I'm glad the team won."

The 28-year-old, who joined the Partenopei from Saint-Etienne in January 2014, has 37 caps and five goals for his country.
