Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of France’s final EURO 2024 warm-up match against Canada, Antoine Griezmann (32) was asked about Olivier Giroud’s (37) final match for Les Bleus in France.
Giroud is set to retire from international football and France duty at the end of the European Championships. The LAFC striker has had a stellar international career whilst playing for Les Bleus. Wearing the France jersey, Giroud won the 2018 World Cup and became the country’s all-time international top goalscorer.
Throughout the former Arsenal striker’s time playing for France, Atlético Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann has been a mainstay. The former Chelsea striker made his debut for Les Bleus in 2011 and has gone on to make 132 appearances to date for his country, scoring 55 goals in the process. France’s upcoming match against Canada will be Giroud’s last before his retirement from international football.
Asked about the France international’s upcoming retirement from France duties, the Atlético Madrid attacking midfielder said, “Olivier, it will be his last match in France with the France jersey, it’s his last dance, I hope he will have a great tribute. He deserves it. He is the ideal player for a coach.”
