Arsenal secured a statement Champions League victory on Wednesday night as they downed Bayern Munich 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium and they have now been issued with a couple of warnings

Arsenal foe Harry Kane has warned the Gunners that he’s up for a rematch after Bayern Munich's defeat in North London. The German giants fell to a 3-1 loss in the Champions League on Wednesday evening as Arsenal laid down a statement to their European rivals.

Jurrien Timber had given the hosts the lead, only for Lennant Karl to equalise. Arsenal were not to be denied though, as goals from Noni Madueke and Leandro Trossard secured victory for Mikel Arteta's side.

And the Gunners also managed to stop former Tottenham man Kane from getting his customary goal. But despite drawing a blank, the England captain is keen to meet Arsenal again later in the competition.

Speaking after Wednesday’s result, Kane said: "It was a tough game which is kind of what we expected. It was a good battle in the first half which was fairly even.

"Second half we didn’t quite have the same energy or intensity and we lost too many duels. It's our first loss of the season. We don’t’ want to panic too much about it. But we will learn about it for sure.

"They won the first and second balls. Set pieces, we knew they would be dangerous. I'm sure we'll see them [Arsenal] again in the later stages of the Champions League.

"They defended man for man pretty much all over the pitch. As I said, I don’t think it’s time to panic. We have played Chelsea, and Paris St-Germain and Arsenal away. We have won the majority of our games."

While Kane is up for meeting the Gunners once again once the knockouts get underway, Bayern boss Vincent Kompany also feels the same. He said: “Losing is part of football.

“It actually felt like we were getting better and better in the first half. We didn’t start badly but Arsenal’s set pieces are extremely dangerous – that changed the momentum.”

The Belgian added: “I hope we’ll meet them again at some point, though, and then we’ll see how the next phase goes. The Champions League won’t be decided now.

“But we have to honestly say that Arsenal were better today. We need to resolve that from Saturday. I had the feeling that the boys are already hungry for the next match again.”

Arsenal now sit top of both the Champions League and Premier League tables with 14 wins from a possible 17 matches in all competitions. The Gunners take on their nearest rivals for the domestic crown this weekend as they travel to Chelsea, while Belgian side Club Brugge represent their next opponents in Europe.
