Lionel Messi's stupendous chip against Real Betis may have left supporters running out of superlatives but it turns out he has done something similar before.
Barcelona extended their lead at the top of La Liga to 10 points with a 4-1 victory over Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin on Sunday night.
Messi was the star of the show, putting his side two goals up in the first half with a wonderful free-kick and a smart finish.
Luis Suarez added a third before Messi sealed the victory with a strike that even had the home fans standing and chanting his name.
Ivan Rakitic cut the ball back to the edge of the box where Messi was waiting to produce a delicate left-footed chip over goalkeeper Pau Lopez, who was not off his line.
Barcelona, however, tweeted a video on Monday showing Messi scoring a similar goal against Tenerife nearly a decade ago.
Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde said after the amazing performance at the weekend that Messi is a player who should be cherished.
Valverde said: 'Leo's match has been extraordinary. He scored three goals and could have scored a fourth.
'It's evidence of the player he is. Despite the opposition being on the receiving end, we are all enjoying this era of his, which is unequalled.
'It's significant that they cheer him, it's an acknowledgement.'
