The loan fee for Romelu Lukaku has been confirmed by Inter Milan and it is only a fraction of the price Chelsea paid for him last season.

The Italian club have confirmed that the move for the Belgian striker has cost them just £6.7million despite selling him the season prior for a huge fee.

Chelsea paid £97m to lure Lukaku to Stamford Bridge but upon the move not working out - they decided to loan him back to his former club.

Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed on Twitter that there is no obligation for Inter Milan to buy the striker following the completion of his loan move.

Lukaku has struggled with injuries this season and as a result has only played in three Serie A games for the side.

However, Romano states that despite no agreement being reached between the sides - both teams' intentions regarding the player are clear.

Discussions have started between the clubs and all things point to Lukaku being back in Milan next season.

Inter will be hoping that the 29-year-old is able to replicate his performances from his last spell in Italy if the deal becomes more permanent.

Chelsea fans were extremely excited following Lukaku's return to the club prior to the 2021-22 season and the striker started off brilliantly.

Lukaku scored on his debut against London rivals Arsenal in a dominant performance for the Blues and looked good value for his transfer fee.

However, things turned sour during his time at the club - particularly after he declared in an interview he wanted to return to Inter.

It would appear that Lukaku's move back to Italy is proving to be beneficial for all parties involved and fans of the club will be hoping he can kick on now he is fit.
