Inzaghi: 'Lazio stopped by break'

  /  autty

Benevento coach Filippo Inzaghi believes Lazio and his brother, Simone, would have ‘won or remained in contention’ without the lockdown this season.

Pippo helped Benevento secure a historic promotion to Serie A and followed his brother’s run with the Aquile in the top tier closely.

The former Milan coach believes Lazio would have had a bigger chance without the break, due to the coronavirus pandemic in March.

“By playing one game a week, Lazio would have won or would have remained in contention until the end,” Inzaghi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“By playing every three days, however, Juventus depth made the difference.”
