Jason Cummings is getting the Christmas present he always wanted after revealing that Olivier Giroud is posting him one of his jerseys following their hilarious World Cup mix-up.
Earlier this week, Cummings claimed on The Project that the former Chelsea and Arsenal star pretended he couldn't understand English when the Socceroos star asked for his jersey after Australia's World Cup defeat by France in Qatar.
That forced Giroud to take to Twitter to clarify that he had already agreed to swap shirts with Cummings' teammate Jackson Irvine, tweeting: 'How's my English mate?' to the midfielder.
And now, Mariners striker Cummings says that he has been in direct contact with the 36-year-old, who has promised to send an AC Milan jersey to Australia.
' It was kind of twisted a wee bit where people thought Giroud told me he didn't speak English. That wasn't the case,' Cummings told The Saturday Morning Mowers Club.
'He probably didn't understand me because I speak Scottish, and I sometimes speak gibberish. 'He just didn't understand me or something, I'm not too sure. It was just a misunderstanding.
But it's all been resolved now. I actually woke up to a message yesterday from the main man himself, Oli G, Olivier Giroud. He actually messaged me on Instagram and it turns out he's a great bloke.
'He has offered to send me an AC Milan jersey and he has said sorry for the misunderstanding and stuff.
'It shows he is actually a good bloke. I said I am going to send him a Mariners jersey. It turns out that we're actually best mates now. So I got the last laugh.'
