Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a dream target for many Premier League clubs and Arsenal may have a major advantage over their rivals

Arsenal have been handed a shocking boost to their hopes of an audacious transfer swoop for Napoli starlet Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The exhilarating winger has been linked to a Premier League switch in previous windows with Tottenham even on the verge of signing Kvaratskhelia from Rubin Kazan before he joined Dinamo Batumi and was then later purchased by Napoli.

The 22-year-old was crucial in helping Napoli win the Scudetto last season as he scored 12 goals and notched 13 assists which saw him form a lethal partnership with Victor Osimhen. Newcastle have also been linked with making a sensational move for Kvaratskhelia this summer.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain had all kept tabs on Osimhen but Napoli's continued firm stance looks set to see any interest dissipate with Osimhen close to signing a new contract. Napoli fans will be thrilled at the thought of seeing that lethal duo stay together for another season, but that may not be the case.

Following Napoli's decision to appoint Mauro Meluso as their new sporting director, they may have indirectly handed the Gunners some hope of signing Kvaratskhelia. That is because it has been revealed Meluso used to work as a consultant at Arsenal, while also may have an existing relationship with Mikel Arteta and Edu.

Priori to his Napoli move, Meluso was part of the hierarchy at Spezia and would have therefore likely been involved in Arsenal's £20million deal to sign Jakub Kiwior from the Italian club in the January transfer window. Given Arsenal's £200million spend, signing Kvaratskhelia as well would require significant financial means that the Gunners do not currently have.

However, in future windows there could now be hope for Arsenal if Meluso is still at Napoli and it becomes clear that Kvaratskhelia wants a Premier League move.
