In an interview with Berliner Kurier, Inter defender Valentino Lazaro has sang the praises of manager Antonio Conte.
“Serie A is fantastic, it's a bit crazy to be part of it. Antonio Conte is the man who finally convinced me to come to Milan,” he explained.
“He absolutely wanted me and made it clear to me in advance in many phone calls. Conte is a world class manager. He is very meticulous and a lover of tactics, which takes his players and teams to another level.”
He then spoke on his early difficulties upon his arrival at the Nerazzurri.
“There were so many new things for me. I joined a bigger club with even bigger ambitions, new teammates and a new language.
“I felt good in the pre-season until I had an injury that made me miss part of pre-season. It was an annoying situation because I was training separately while the guys worked in groups, and the team started the season brilliantly.
“Conte was very important to me during that time when I was not playing, because he gave me courage and told me that I should wait for my chance.”
He concluded by speaking on how it felt to debut in Serie A and how it felt to deliver his first assist.
“It was a great feeling [to debut]. It was a very special moment [when I assisted my first goal]. I worked hard for that moment. I saw some videos where fans got up to applaud me and I would be lying if I said that that is not something good to see.”
