Veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina has reportedly agreed to join Lazio from AC Milan on a two-year deal.

The former Liverpool, Barcelona and Napoli man, spent the second-half of last season loan at Aston Villa, who he helped keep up in the Premier League after narrowly avoiding relegation.

Sky Italy have reported that the 37-year-old, who will turn 38 later this month, is expected to undergo a medical at the Rome club later this week.

The Spaniard is keen to play for a Champions League team again which is said to be a crucial factor in his decision to switch to the team.

AC Milan meanwhile failed to qualify for the Champions League this coming term having finished sixth in the Serie A last season.

Reina also had a back-up status to Gianluigi Donarumma at the San Siro, but should he join Lazio he is also expected to play second fiddle to their current number-one choice Thomas Strakosha.

Since joining AC Milan in 2018, Reina has only ever made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions.

AC Milan are looking to cash in on the goalkeeper who is just about to enter his final year of his contract with the club.

His desire for first-team football saw him make a temporary switch in the January window to Aston Villa as cover for the injured Tom Heaton.

He made 12 appearances while on loan at Villa Park helping the cub maintain their Premier League status.
