Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has announced that he has become a member of the UNICEF family to help those in need during the coronavirus crisis.

The 25-year-old centre-back and his wife Maja have become a part of the Unicef Sverige organisation in his home country Sweden.

Lindelof is known for his charity work and he is looking to continue this by using his resources to help those in need.

The defender tweeted: 'So happy to announce that Majanilsson & I have become a part of the Unicef Sverige family in Sweden.

'To be in this position makes me incredibly proud. Now more than ever what we can do for others is so important.'

The Unicef Sverige organisation aims to help those that are stuck in poverty or need of desperate help.

This need for help has been increased all around the world in recent times following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 239,000 people have died as a result of the virus worldwide with more than three million cases.

Lindelof has previously been part of efforts to raise money for Unicef, as Manchester United held a charity night gala to raise money for Unicef and Manchester United Foundation most recently in November last year.

The centre-back has become a regular at Manchester United alongside Harry Maguire at the heart of the Red Devils' defence this season.

Before football was put on hold due to the coronavirus, the Swedish defender made 35 appearances across all competitions.
