Ones to watch
Lyon: Thiago Mendes
With Champions League group stage hero Memphis Depay out with a knee injury, the onus will lie with Lyon's other big-name players Moussa Dembele and Thiago Mendes, to come up with the goods on Wednesday.
Depay will be sorely missed but Dembele should be able to pick up where his teammate left off if he gets the service. He could produce the same form he has shown in the French top-flight in the Champions League but will need Thiago Mendes to continue to produce the creative performances that has seen him lead the side in assists this season.
Key stat: No Lyon player has more assists in Ligue 1 than Thiago Mendes (6).
Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo
Juventus signed Cristiano Ronaldo for one reason, to win the Champions League. He is a man with huge experience and pedigree in this competition and remains the most influential figure in Juve's ranks.
His record speaks for itself, but his attitude and application on the pitch rubs off on those around him and has helped lift the Old Lady after several flat performances in their domestic championship this season.
He will be vital to the Italian club's chances of progression and overall ability to win this competition.
Key stat: No player has scored more goals in the Champions League than Cristiano Ronaldo (128).
Team news
Lyon
The big news for Lyon is the absence of their standout player in the Champions League group stages, Memphis Depay. The Dutchman is sidelined with a knee injury after scoring in five of their six matches in the competition this season and will not play again in 2019-20.
They are also missing Jeff Reine-Adélaïde and Youssef Kone who have knee and ankle injuries respectively. Both Rafael and Léo Dubois are doubts ahead of the fixture although the latter is expected to be fit in time. Oumar Solet is not expected to feature.
Predicted XI: Lopes; Dubois, Marcelo, Denayer, Marçal; Guimaraes, Thiago Mendes, Aouar; Toko Ekambi, Dembélé, Cornet.
Juventus
Juve are without too many injury concerns. Douglas Costa is the big absentee after the Brazilian picked up a knee injury. They will also be missing Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira.
Merih Demiral is the other player expected to miss out while Gonzalo Higuain is doubtful with a back injury.
Predicted XI: Szczęsny; Danilo, Bonucci, De Ligt, Alex Sandro; Matuidi, Ramsey, Bentancur; Cuadrado, Ronaldo, Dybala.
Prediction
The important thing for Lyon will be to make sure they stay in this tie and so don't expect them to be too expansive.
Juventus know they can take advantage by grabbing an away goal which will put them in the driving seat as they head back to Turin for the second leg in three weeks time so they will want to make sure they find the net at least once.
You look at the overall quality Sarri has at his disposal and it is hard to see past a Juve win in this one.
Scoreline prediction: Lyon 1-2 Juventus
