Manchester City 'are considering a move for PSG star Achraf Hakimi'

Manchester City are reportedly keen on bringing PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi to the Etihad this summer and are prepared to pay big money to secure his signature.

The 24-year-old has been identified as the perfect replacement for Kyle Walker as Pep Guardiola bids to set his side up for a future defence of the three major honours their spectacularly claimed last season.

Walker, who has one-year remaining on his deal in Manchester, looks set to join German champions Bayern Munich this summer.

As a result, the Citizens are in the market for a successor and have landed on the equally speedy Hakimi, according to Spanish outlet Marca.

The Moroccan international was sensational in his side's historic run to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar and has been seen as one of the best full-backs in world football over the past five years.

Hakimi could be set to become the latest high-profile name agitating for a move away from Paris after Mundo Deportivo reported he was ‘not comfortable’ at the club.

City would unquestionably be an attractive proposition for the former Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan defender, but he is believed to prefer a return to Real Madrid alongside his current team-mate Kylian Mbappe.

Hakimi’s acquisition would be the second such deal to replace an ageing star after the anticipated completion of a £25m transfer for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who is set to fill the boots of Barcelona-bound Ilkay Gundogan.

The European champions also threw their hat into the ring for Declan Rice this week and are set to go head-to-head with Arsenal for the West Ham skipper’s signature.
