Manchester United are reportedly set to face competition from Bayern Munich in their efforts to sign Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
The reigning Bundesliga champions have been rocked by the season-ending injury to number one Manuel Neuer after he suffered a broken tibia in a skiing incident.
Sommer is out of contract in the summer and has been previously linked with a move to Old Trafford as David de Gea's future remains uncertain. Following Dean Henderson's loan exit during the summer, the Reds moved to bring in Martin Dubravka on loan from Newcastle United to provide cover for the Spaniard.
According to German news outlet, BILD, Julian Nagelsmann's side are weighing up a move for the Switzerland shot-stopper as they look for cover between the sticks.
They also currently have Alexander Nubel out on loan with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco but it has emerged that there is a rift with the 26-year-old and goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic.
However in the report from Germany, it has been stated that Gladbach would be reluctant to allow their goalkeeper to leave but under the current financial situation, added to his looming contract expiry, they could be forced into a January sale.
It has also been stated that Sommer wants to 'realise his England dream' and move to the Reds.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are said to be interested in re-signing United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to the Evening Standard.
The full-back swapped Selhurst Park for the Stretford End in 2019 for a £50m but hasn't quite lived up to his price tag, enduring a dip in form in recent seasons. He has failed to make an impact under Erik ten Hag who has opted for Diogo Dalot since taking over.
He was given his first start of the season against Burnley in the Carabao Cup and put in a solid performance, contributing to the first goal with a brilliant assist for Christian Eriksen.
