Lionel Messi is already the joint-fourth highest scorer in Inter Miami's history less than a month after signing for the club.

Messi scored twice, including a late equaliser, as Inter Miami prevailed on penalties  against Dallas in the Leagues Cup after the game finished 4-4.

It continued a remarkable start to his Inter Miami career for Messi, who has scored seven times in just four appearances.

As reported by Ian Hest, Messi is now level with current team-mate Josef Martinez on seven goals along with Lewis Morgan and Rodolfo Pizarro.

The only players to have scored more than Messi for Inter Miami are Gonzalo Higuain (29), and current Inter players Leo Campana (16) and Robert Taylor (8).

Inter Miami were only founded in January 2018, but Messi's feat is still impressive and it may not be too long before he becomes the club's all-time leading scorer.

Higuain represented Inter Miami between 2020 and 2022, and made 70 appearances for the club.

Messi scored a late winner on his debut for Inter Miami against Cruz Azul and then proceeded to hit braces against Atlanta, Orlando and Dallas. He was also on target from the spot against Dallas.

The 36-year-old is already Barcelona's all-time leading scorer with a remarkable 672 goals and he is also the record holder for Argentina with 103. Messi also scored 32 goals during his time at Paris Saint-Germain.

Remarkably, Messi has yet to make a league appearance for Inter Miami, with his goal tally likely to increase even further thereafter.

Inter Miami are now through to the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup, where they will take on Houston Dynamo or Charlotte.
