Barcelona star Lionel Messi made Andres Guardado's son's day by taking time out to meet him in the tunnel.

The Real Betis midfielder took his son Maximo to meet the Argentina forward when Betis hosted Barcelona last season.

Guardado held his son in his arms as he walked down the tunnel to the away dressing room.

Messi appeared from the Barcelona changing room and Maximo shouted 'Messi'.

The striker then gave Maximo a high-five before taking him from Guardado's arms.

The pair smiled for a picture and then had a brief conversation with Maximo's excitement clear to see.

Maximo thanked Messi before being given back to his father, who also embraced and thanked the 31-year-old.

Messi scored a brace as Barcelona beat Betis 5-0 on January 21 when Maximo met the star.

The touching footage of the meeting between the youngster and Messi was released on Sunday as it is part of the Spanish Amazon documentary Six Dreams.

Guardado stars in the six-part series focusing on last season's La Liga.
