Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on Denmark star Mikkel Damsgaard after becoming one of the breakthrough stars at Euro 2020.

Damsgaard has featured in all three of his country's group stage games so far - starting the last two against Belgium and Russia and finding the back of the net versus the latter.

The 20-year-old midfielder is hot property and is believed to have a host of suitors monitoring his situation following a solid year in Serie A with Sampdoria, but Barcelona are showing real interest, according to Spanish outlet Diario Sport.

Damsgaard scored a peach of a goal in the 4-1 win over Russia to ensure his side moved through to the last-16 of the tournment - curling a beauty into the top right-hand corner to give them the lead.

His sensational strike prompted Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero to concede that he would sell the player for the right price, claiming he was worth around £25million following his showing at Euro 2020 - but that the price would rise further if he scored again for Denmark.

'Did you see that Damsgaard goal?' He told Il Secolo XIX. 'I'll tell you it's a fair price, today at least 30m (Euros). But if he scores again he will reach 40million.'

Diario adds that Sampdoria are now preparing to auction the youngster off this summer after attracting a host of clubs - including Juventus and Tottenham, according to reports from Italy.

Damsgaard, who scored twice and set up four goals for the Italian side this season, only made his Denmark bow last November and has gone on to pick up five caps.

He is known by the nickname 'Damsinho' by the Danish press due to his energetic and skilful style of play, and has successfully stepped into the team to fill the void of Christian Eriksen after his shocking cardiac arrest.

The youngster was an unused subsitute for the 1-0 loss to Finland which saw Eriksen collapse to the turf in scenes that shocked the world of sport.

But he was put into the limelight for the following two games against Belgium and Russia as boss Kasper Hjulmand looked for a creative outlet.

He is a relative newcomer at Sampdoria having played just one season in Italian football following his transfer from Danish side Nordsjælland for a modest fee of just £5m. His club stand to make a healthy profit on him should he depart.
