Milan turn to Lazio and Uruguay figure Martin Caceres

Milan’s search for a reinforcement in defence could lead them towards versatile Lazio and Uruguay figure Martin Caceres.

The Rossoneri are in the midst of an injury crisis, as Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio, Mattia Caldara, Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are all dealing with serious problems.

Resources are limited, so they are seeking players with experience who can arrive for relatively little money.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the latest candidate is Lazio benchwarmer Caceres.

The 31-year-old joined Lazio from Verona in January, but made only six appearances all season and is not considered a priority for Coach Simone Inzaghi.

His contract is due to expire at the end of this campaign, so he’d be available at cut-price or even on loan for the final six months of his deal.

Caceres had been very close to joining Milan in January 2017, undergoing a medical with the club, but then failed to agree personal terms.

Instead, he moved to Southampton as a free agent.
