It has been eight years since Inter or AC Milan last won Serie A, despite the huge investments they have made to strengthen their squads throughout this period.

The Nerazzurri won the treble, including the Champions League and Coppa Italia, in 2010 under Jose Mourinho.

After several changes in the ownership of the team, they have spent as much as 876.7 million euros on players such as Joao Mario, Radja Nainggolan and Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Erick Thohir become the first foreign president in Inter's history after taking Massimo Moratti's majority share back in 2013 and, a few years later, he sold the club to the Sunning Holdings Group.

Meanwhile, at AC Milan, Li Yonghong bought Silvio Berlusconi's stake in 2017 and, after breaching the Financial Fair Play rules, the team are banned this season from European competitions.

After winning the title in 2011 for the last time, the Rossoneri have spent a total of 769.4m euros, but they haven't managed to pursue the glory of the past.

Marco Giampaolo's side will face Antonio Conte's men on Saturday in the Derby della Madonnina, which has lost its prestige a little despite the almost 1.6 billion euros spent between both clubs during recent years.
