Musacchio 'may leave this summer' as Milan work on purchase of Sevilla defender

Mateo Musacchio's future at AC Milan beyond the summer looks to be in doubt with the Argentine having fallen out of favour, a report claims.

Ever since Simon Kjaer's arrival at Milan, Musacchio has struggled for game time, though it did not help that he suffered an injury at the exact wrong time. Kjaer immediately took the starting position and has never let go apart from injury.

Musacchio, it appears, was a certainty in the starting XI until January. He was one of the first names on the team sheet under Gennaro Gattuso first, then with Giampaolo then and finally with Stefano Pioli. Since the arrival of Kjaer, however, the Argentine has played only 106 minutes in the six games since.

The are conditions that inevitably also affect his future, the report claims. Milan is working on the redemption of Kjaer which will cost €5m, as the Sevilla-owned centre-back has become an important figure in the locker room, thanks to his experience and charisma.

Matteo Gabbia has recently renewed his contract until 2024, while for Musacchio the situation is different. As it turns out, there are currently no meetings scheduled to extend his deal which expires in 2021, while LaLiga and Premier League clubs are sniffing around.

It appears that after three years with the Rossoneri, his time may be coming to a close.
