Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan regrets leaving Roma and believes he could’ve still had his say with Inter. “I let pride get the better of me.”

The Belgian walked away from Roma following a clash with then-director of sport Monchi, but lasted only one season at San Siro before he was frozen out.

“I left my heart in Rome, as that was a unique experience,” said Nainggolan in his Instagram Live chat with tennis champion Fabio Fognini.

“Unfortunately, I let pride get the better of me and that made me change clubs.”

He reunited with Luciano Spalletti at Inter, although things changed when Antonio Conte took over.

“I went to Inter with a coach who really wanted me there. I arrived with so much enthusiasm, then I got injured and had some problems. Looking at the statistics, I can be satisfied, even if I can do better. It wasn’t the best of Nainggolan at Inter.

“I did still hope to be given another chance, but that didn’t happen. It’s a decision I have to accept. I have another two years on my contract with Inter, we’ll see what happens, as so much has changed at the club.

“I still believe that I can have my say at Inter. I never had any problems in the dressing room, despite what’s reported.”
