Napoli without Lobotka having a doubt for Juventus clash

Antonio Conte could be without Stanislav Lobotka for Napoli's Serie A match against Juventus this weekend after the midfielder suffered a muscle injury on Wednesday.

Lobotka was set to be on the bench for Napoli’s Coppa Italia tie against Cagliari, but he picked up a leg injury during the warm-up and was forced to miss the game.

Conte's side won 9-8 on penalties after the match finished 1-1 in normal time, with Lorenzo Lucca on target for Napoli.

Lobotka has featured in 10 of Napoli's 13 Serie A games this season, registering one assist, after also dealing with a thigh problem earlier in the campaign.

Conte previously bemoaned Napoli's growing injury list, with Lobotka the latest midfielder to be sidelined for the reigning Italian champions.

Frank Anguissa, Kevin De Bruyne and Billy Gilmour are all out of action, while Romelu Lukaku and Miguel Gutierrez are also injured for Napoli.

Scott McTominay, Eljif Elmas and Antonio Vergara are the only senior midfielders currently available for Conte, though the club did not rule Lobotka out of the Juventus game.

"Stanislav Lobotka sustained a muscle strain in the posterior tibial muscle of his left leg during Wednesday’s pre-match warm-up," Napoli said in a statement.

"The Napoli player has already started the rehabilitation process."

Napoli are currently level on points with league leaders AC Milan after beating Roma last weekend, while Juventus sit five points behind in seventh.
