Noa Lang wants to become a complete player at Napoli: 'Conte is perfect'

Noa Lang has been presented at Napoli. The Dutch winger, who joined from PSV, immediately shared what he wants to improve under Antonio Conte.

The 26-year-old Lang completed a €25 million move from Dutch champions PSV to Serie A champions Napoli and didn't take long to learn his first Italian words.

"The first word I learned in Italian is stanco (tired). I said it after my first training session at Napoli. Here you do a lot of work, a lot of running, but I think it's good to get out of the comfort zone I was in in the Netherlands."

Lang was close to joining Napoli in January, but PSV, who were in the middle of a heated title battle, stopped the winger from moving.

"PSV said no. Now Napoli have come back to get me and I am going on a good adventure. I have worked hard for this, and now I'm here, ready to dribble, give assists, and score goals. I am a player for whom the fans come to the stadium to see play."

'Conte is perfect'

The 26-year-old Dutchman also spoke about the difference in the game between the Netherlands and Italy, specifically regarding the role of wingers, who also have to defend in the Serie A. "In the Netherlands, you usually keep the ball against most opponents, but I'm very keen on developing the defensive phase.

The former Ajax academy product acknowledged that playing under manager Antonio Conte will help his game.

"It's time for me to become a complete player, and that's one of the reasons why I came here, to improve defensively and tactically. I think Conte is perfect.

"I'm good at dribbling, making assists and scoring. I know I need to improve defensively, but Conte has been discussing this with me since our first phone call. When I had not yet decided to say yes to Napoli, the coach spoke to me about tactics and so I came here knowing that I have to improve from a tactical point of view.

After winning the Eredivisie for the second year running last season, Lang wants to continue his streak in Naples.

"A title for me? I would write 'I am here to win, because I won championships with Bruges, Ajax and Psv, and now I am here to look for new victories'.
