Oblak is a tough opponent for Messi & Suarez

  /  autty

If anyone can stop Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, it's Jan Oblak.

Despite only beating Barcelona once before - in the 2015/16 Champions League quarter-finals - Oblak has proved a tough opponent for Messi, especially when the Slovenian is in front of his own fans.

The Argentine has scored against the goalkeeper in four of their six meetings at the Camp Nou and three of their seven meetings in Madrid.

Messi hasn't managed to find the net at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in either of his two visits there so far.

With a goal every 92 minutes in his Barcelona career, Messi has to wait 154 for every goal he scores against Oblak.

At home, he scores once every 127 minutes against the Atletico shot-stopper while he scores every 190 minutes away.

With 21 goals in 23 matches against them, Atletico are Messi's second favourite opponent to score against - with seven coming against Oblak in 13 games.

It's a similar story for the Uruguayan, who struggles to beat Oblak and Atletico away from home.

He's netted just once in 540 minutes against them compared with a goal every 127 minutes at the Camp Nou.

In total, Suarez scores a goal every 209 minutes against Oblak.

Their last meeting came in April when Atletico, who were down to 10 men after Diego Costa's infamous red card, kept out Barcelona until Messi and Suarez sunk them with two late goals.
