Odegaard pulls off outrageous nutmeg on Ramos before being hacked

On-loan Real Madrid starlet Martin Odegaard left a wry smile on the face of his parent club's captain during Norway's 1-1 draw with Spain on Saturday night.

Madrid powerhouse Sergio Ramos was forced to hack the 20-year-old down after Odegaard snuck the ball through the his legs with a clever turn.

The experienced centre-back became Spain's record appearance maker in the European Qualifier - surpassing goalkeeping icon Iker Casillas - but being turned by the youngster visibly irked Ramos.

The Spaniard was one of the players baffled by Odegaard's presence in first-team training while the wonderkid was still playing matches with Real's B side.

Since swapping the Madrid pressure-cooker for Basque side Real Sociedad, Odegaard has thrived - relighting the hype that surrounded the Norwegian when he signed at the Bernabeu aged just 16.

Loan spells at Dutch sides Heerenveen and Vitesse helped the Norwegian develop under the radar, while fans began to speculate whether Odegaard was just another starlet who would never fulfil his potential.

He has played every minute of Sociedad's eight opening matches of the La Liga season: scoring twice, assisting twice and acting as a vital cog in hoisting the Basques to fifth in the table.

Odegaard also played all 90 minutes for Norway - who sit fourth in Group F - on Saturday night, putting in another sharp performance as Bournemouth striker Josh King profited from a Kepa Arrizabalaga error to end Spain's 100 per cent record.
