Official | PSG centre-back Milan Skriniar to undergo ankle surgery

  /  autty

PSG centre-back Milan Škriniar (28) is set for an extended spell on the sidelines and may have already played his final game of the season already. The Slovakian international has sustained a dislocation of his left ankle’s lateral peroneal during Les Parisiens‘ Trophée des Champions title win against Toulouse FC on Wednesday, PSG have announced.

This is a serious injury blow for Luis Enrique’s squad given Škriniar’s availability so far this term. The former Inter Milan captain started thirteen Ligue 1 games and played every game of PSG’s Champions League group stage. The Ligue 1 champions have revealed that Škriniar will undergo ankle surgery next week at Doha’s ASPETAR clinic. Škriniar’s involvement in the upcoming Euro 2024 with Slovakia is seriously jeopardized.

With Škriniar and Presnel Kimpembe out for several months, newly signed PSG recruit and Brazilian prospect Lucas Beraldo is set to play a more prominent role than expected for Les Parisiens for the second half of the campaign. Paris Saint-Germain add that the France international centre-back will return to the club’s training ground next week, after being given a rest on the back of his surgery.

France international left-back Lucas Hernandez won’t feature for Les Parisiens against lowly Revel for Sunday’s Coupe de France tie. The former Bayern Munich defender is currently ill.
