On September 28, Serie B side Padova officially announced the completion of the transfer of veteran Argentine Gomez to UAE club Forte Virtus FC (Gulf Heroes) on a permanent deal. Gomez is 38 years old.
Born on February 15, 1988, Gomez enjoyed a long career in European football, playing for clubs including Catania, Metalist Kharkiv, Atalanta, Sevilla, and Monza. His time at Atalanta marked a significant period in his career, where he became a key attacking player for the team.
In 2022, Gomez won the Europa League with Sevilla. At the international level, he represented Argentina and was part of the squad that won the 2021 Copa América and the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Although not a regular starter for the Argentine national team, Gomez contributed to several important honors achieved by the team during this period.
In 2024, Gomez joined Serie A side Monza. Subsequently, in 2025, he moved to Italian club Padova to continue his career in Serie B.
Now, Gomez has opted to leave Padova and begin a new phase of his career in the UAE. Padova's official statement expressed gratitude for Gomez's professionalism during his tenure and wished him all the best in his future endeavors.
