Chelsea transfer news: Mauricio Pochettino has been given a subtle piece of summer advice by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola has picked out Andre Onana, who is a transfer target of Chelsea, as Inter's top man ahead of his Manchester City side facing the Italian giants in the Champions League final. The Cameroon international is key to Inter's tactical set up and Guardiola appears to have handed Mauricio Pochettino the transfer green light to sign him for the Blues.
Onana appears to be the main target in between the sticks but Inter look to have no desire of selling, especially going off the comments made by Chief Executive Officer Giuseppe Marotta in May.
"Onana leaving for €40million (£35million)? I’d rule this out, honestly," he said. "We think he will stay. We have not received any offers and Onana is happy in Milano, he wants to stay here - we do not plan to sell him.”
He said: "At the moment Inter Milan are demanding €60million (£52million) for Andre Onana. Chelsea have got a meeting with Inter Milan after the Champions League final, predominately regarding Lukaku. But Onana will be talked about in that."
Chelsea look to have already tested the waters regarding a transfer by sending a €40million (£35million) according to Tuttomercatoweb. Their report notes that bid was quickly rejected but that work will continue over the comings weeks to reach an agreement.
After seeing their opening offer rebuffed, Pochettino could turn to other goalkeeping targets, but Guardiola's admission about Onana gives the Argentine a clear reason to want him at Stamford Bridge. When asked for Inter's most dangerous player, he said: "For the way they play, with the high press... Onana is an exceptional goalkeeper to take that position to build-up. Really, really good."
