Chelsea transfer news: Christian Pulisic has hinted at issues he had at Stamford Bridge after confirming a move to AC Milan this summer

Christian Pulisic appeared to take a subtle dig at Chelsea in his first interview as an AC Milan player following the completion of his transfer. The deal, worth £18.9million ($24.2m) sees him cut short his five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, seeing out four full seasons having initially agreed to join in January 2019.

The USMNT star will now join former Chelsea players Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud at San Siro as he looks to write a new chapter in his career.

He now has the chance reignite the spark in his game in Italy but didn't shy away from issues that stunted his development at Chelsea. "Of course there were definitely times where I wish I could have gotten that much more of an opportunity and been 'that guy,' but that's not the case," he said after joining.

"I'm strongly proud of what I achieved at Chelsea, winning major cup finals, being on the pitch and helping my team, Champions League, Super Cup, all that.

"I believe I had great moments at Chelsea. I learned a lot as a player and I grew a lot, but now I'm completely ready for this brilliant challenge at AC Milan."

Pulisic was up against it from the start at Chelsea, agreeing to join whilst Maurizio Sarri was in charge but then under the management of Frank Lampard when he met up with the squad later that year. As a young left winger he was also seen as the heir to Eden Hazard's throne, something which added pressure to the American.

"I thought it was a great couple years and the last couple years just haven't gone at all how I've planned them to be." At 24 he now has plenty of time to find his best form once more but the feeling of both sides failing to get the best out of each other cannot be shaken.
