Chelsea fans have run out of patience with the injury record of Reece James after the right-back was forced to withdraw from England duty with a hamstring complaint.

The 23-year-old, who helped the club to Champions League glory in 2021, has missed 67 games due to an assortment of injuries during his time at the club including knee, ankle and hamstring blows.

With James again sidelined having made only 12 appearances across Chelsea's 27 league games so far this season - fans have been left displeased.

One fan said: "It's becoming a joke now." A second added: "Reece James try to stay fit for just two weeks challenge!"

A third posted: "This guy is genuinely starting to show signs that he won't be it…injury record starting to look horrendous."

A fourth said: "It's getting ridiculous at this point." A fifth wrote: "What a joke never seen a player so injury prone."

Those injury issues at club level equate to 368 days out of first team action - despite him not yet reaching his 24th birthday.

England posted in a short statement: "Defender Reece James has withdrawn from the #ThreeLions squad and will not feature against Ukraine on Sunday."

James played for 15 minutes of normal time during England's win on Thursday, with Southgate opting not to call up a late replacement.

Their update added that 22 players took to training on Sunday, with Jordon Pickford chosen to sat with manager Gareth Southgate in the press conference.

England take on Ukraine on Sunday looking to extend their fine start to Euro 2024 qualifying having won 2-1 against Italy in Naples.

Elsewhere in the group, Malta slipped to defeat against North Macedonia with Ukraine yet to play.
