Sanchez' future at Inter is 'hanging in the balance' after UCL red card

Inter Milan are reportedly considering whether or not to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer.

The Chilean forward has blown hot and cold since signing on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2020 despite his massive wage.

And as reported by Football Italia, Inter are weighing up letting Sanchez leave this summer, with serious doubts over his future at the San Siro.

Sanchez, 33, was given a costly red card in the second leg of his side's Champions League last-16 tie, a massive factor in their failure to progress.

With Inter 2-0 down from the first leg in Italy, Lautaro Martinez pulled one back just after the hour mark at Anfield to give Simone Inzaghi's men a fighting chance of going through against a sluggish Liverpool.

But Sanchez was sent off, albeit harshly, for a sliding tackle on Fabinho just two minutes after Martinez' strike, killing the game off.

The former Arsenal and United star's contract expires in summer 2023, meaning the club has to decide whether to sell him this summer or risk losing him for nothing the following year.

The 148-cap international is on a net salary of around £110,000-a-week, meaning a sale could lighten the club's wage bill significantly.

Sanchez has just two league goals this season, with six goals and five assists in all competitions this campaign.
