Serie A could start again behind closed doors in June (La Repubblica)

Serie A could resume play in June according to a report in today's print edition of Rome based newspaper La Repubblica.

All sporting activity is currently on hold in Italy until at least April 3 due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and given the severity of the situation, it is highly unlikely that the season will resume anytime close to that date.

At a recent meeting between European football's governing body UEFA, its members federations and other people, leagues made a commitment to conclude their domestic campaigns by June 30 but with the current situation ever changing it looks unlikely that this will be possible to achieve.

The report states that games could start up again behind closed doors to ensure safety but even then there are still a lot of issues to be considered.

The season may not resume whatsoever in which case Serie A would stand to make a significant estimated loss of €720 million.
