A host of Premier League stars have been soaking up the atmosphere at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone today.

The event is known to attract an array of glittering names and this year there has been an influx of footballers enjoying their summer break.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was pictured swapping shirts with reigning Formula One champion Max Verstappen and also posed with the Red Bull star's car.

Sky Sports' grid walk reporter Martin Brundle managed a quick interview with Alexander-Arnold, who expressed his passion for F1.

'It's my first time [on the grid],' the England right-back said. 'Hopefully the first of many though, I absolutely love F1 and I'm so excited to be here. It doesn't really allow me with my schedule but I'm happy to be here today.

'I love everything about F1. The excitement, the fact that it's both a team sport and an individual sport at the same time is exciting to me. It's an amazing sport, I grew up watching it with my dad and my family.

'These machines are something very special. A lot of hard work goes into it behind the scenes that I've been able to see today. It's not easy it, it doesn't happen overnight.'

Brundle even managed to ask Alexander-Arnold if he was happy about Mo Salah's new contract after the Egyptian agreed a new three-year deal at Liverpool.

'Of course,' Alexander-Arnold said. 'Hopefully a few more years with him to win more trophies.'

Dutch defenders Virgil van Dijk and Nathan Ake were on opposing sides of the title race with Liverpool and Manchester City last season, but they were together at Silverstone and all smiles in the Red Bull garage.

Chelsea and England star Reece James was also snapped, as was Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

There was even room for a few retired players too, as Micah Richards was in characteristically good spirits alongside his former Manchester City team-mate Joleon Lescott.
