'Slate wiped clean with Mancini'

FIGC President Gabriele Gravina says Roberto Mancini has been given ‘carte blanche’ to oversee a rebirth of the Italian national team.

Mancini celebrates a year in charge of Italy later this month, and Gravina is confident ‘we’re on the right track’ after the disappointment of missing out on the 2018 World Cup.

“With Mancini we’ve drawn a line,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Now Italian football needs a new culture. We must be good at bringing through talent.

"It’s a project of sharing a supply chain that involves all the national youth teams. We’re focusing on young players and their enthusiasm.

“Mancini has carte blanche. There’s maximum collaboration between various Azzurri Coaches.

“We need to make Italy fans fall in love with our project and convince the clubs. I think we’re on the right track.”
