A new chapter in Eric Abidal's liver story is being written.
Medical tests have confirmed that his apparent cousin, Gerard Armand, was the donor, but doubts remain about their relationship.
All parties have received medical information, according to Cadena SER, and the medical examiner's report shows that the conclusion has been reached.
Armand underwent a forensic examination last November at the judge's request to determine if he had undergone surgery to donate part of his liver to Abidal.
This has closed one chapter, but not the case.
It remains to be verified if Armand is Abidal's cousin, as there were discrepancies and contradictions in earlier statements.
The judge has now asked the Spanish diplomacy in Lyon to obtain both birth certificates, but this hasn't been successful.
