Former Inter Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni says Gian Piero Gasperini has been a positive appointment for AS Roma.
Gasperini's position as Roma coach has come into question after a clash with technical advisor and club hero Claudio Ranieri.
Stramaccioni told Sports Gazette: "I'll start by saying that it's a situation that would be difficult to manage elsewhere, not just in Rome. Gasperini pointed out that in his opinion some players are not from Rome and I believe Claudio chose to respond.
"I've known both of them for a long time and I know they are two great football men, with a strong character."
He also said: "Roma relied on the right coach, who in turn chose them despite having so many requests. I am convinced that the solution is to create a winning mix, between experienced players and young people who can grow."
