RC Strasbourg Alsace are in the process of targeting a new goalkeeper with the club linked today with a move for Chelsea FC’s Djordje Petrović (24).
According to the BBC, Strasbourg are set to rival Fiorentina in trying to convince Petrović to join the side after the goalkeeper has found himself fall down the pecking order at the Premier League side.
Petrović had been by default the number one for most of last season after Robert Sánchez’s (26) injury problems. However, a return to fitness for Sánchez and the arrival of Filip Jörgensen (22) have pushed Petrović out of the running, with the third-choice slot being provided instead to the more experienced Marcus Bettinelli (32).
Strasbourg believe that Petrović could be a promising figure and would like to secure his services on a year-long loan. However, it is currently unclear whether the goalkeeper would be happy with a move to France.
Strasbourg are also considering a move for Olympique Lyonnais’ Anthony Lopes (33) who has found himself surplus to requirements at his training club.
